Credit control process
Custom steps, waits, demand notices, and Yes/No collections referral for overdue accounts.
Credit control is how TreadOS chases overdue accounts. You design the steps (friendly reminders, waits, demand notices, final demand), then the system asks Send to collections? Yes / No when the process has not resulted in payment. Open Settings → Credit control.
This is separate from tyre-rotation and wheel-alignment reminders under Customer reminders, and separate from the automatic stop credit day count under Finance settings.
How escalation works
Steps move forward based on how old the oldest unpaid invoice is — not how long the customer has been “in the system”. Accounts that stay a bit overdue keep getting the early reminders only. Demand notices and collections only happen when debt ages into those later steps.
Set it up
- Open Settings → Credit control as the account owner.
- Add, remove, or reorder steps. Each step has a wait (extra days overdue), channels (email / text), and your wording. Preview and send a test before customers receive anything.
- Enter your collections company name and email for the final referral pack.
- Turn the process on only when the step list and wording are agreed with accounts.
Emails use your company logo from Company settings when one is uploaded. Text steps need messaging connected under Settings → Text messaging.
The overnight job advances accounts. On the customer file you will see credit control history, and when a collections decision is due you can choose Yes (email the pack) or No (pause further chase until the account is no longer overdue).
